Marilyn “Harlan” Maher, 94, of Pine Beach, died peacefully at home with her family at her bedside. Born and raised in Staten Island and lived there until moving to Pine Beach 50 years ago. Mrs. Maher had been employed as an accountant for banks in Manhattan before moving to Pine Beach. She enjoyed her membership with the Golden Age Club of Pine Beach and also loved crabbing especially with her grandchildren. Marilyn was an active lady who loved her community. She was often seen riding her bike around town and taking long walks with friends and neighbors. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Thomas in 1991 and her grandson, Mark who died 10 years ago.
Surviving are 4 children; Gail LoPresti and her husband Bill, Thomas Maher and his wife Irene, Robert Maher and his wife Shane and Michael Maher and his wife Crisann; 7 grandchildren, Billy, Stephen, Scott, Tommy, Cory, Samantha and Amanda; 6 great grandchildren, Billy, Stephanie, Julie, Jason, Nicholas and Alexa; and her sister Carol Driscoll.
Visiting hours will be Thursday, Jan 3rd, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the Mastapeter Funeral Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd., Bayville. Funeral Friday, 8:30am at the funeral home, before celebrating a 9:30am Funeral Mass at St. Barnabas Church, Bayville. Burial will follow to St. Peter Cemetery in Staten Island.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Marilyn's memory to; St. Jude Children's Hospital (stjude.org), would be appreciated.
