On March 12, 2019, At the age of 57, Joseph L Ayaso passed away unexpectedly. He is survived by his loving parents Lucia and Manuel Ayaso and his beloved sister Monica Ayaso.

Joey, was a caring, sensitive, creative free spirit who lived his life on his own terms and by his own rules embraced by the peace of nature and animals.

He often believed we walked among angels and that life should never be taken for granted hence his generosity with strangers and friends alike. His heart and personality were bigger than life.

A curious nature lover Joey would often spend hours hiking off the beaten track, watching sunsets over the bay, or sunrises by the shore. (His happy place.)

Joe loved traveling though he often lived in the moment inspired by his own imagination, the wanderlust never left him. Memphis Florida. Europe. Off the beaten path. He stopped to smell the roses. Like his life, a colorful menagerie of adventures.

After hearing of his sudden death, his family takes comfort in one thing, He died being true to who he was. A free spirit. Joe we will forever love and miss you.

It was a beautiful spring day Joe and I were chatting on the porch of my house. I always knew he was a free spirit but that day I remember thinking how you could not only hear the passion you could see it. He just seemed to radiate, exude joy. Thank you for sharing. Elsie

Joe - you will forever be my favorite uncle. It was you after all - who took me to my first movie, bought me my first record albums, introduced me to Wildwood and the beautiful wonders of nature, you danced with me during my Sweet 16 party, made me a mini cardboard stainless steel refrigerator for my bridal shower because you and Tia couldn't bring the real thing ;) and the list of memories go on. I tell my children stories about our hiking and beach adventures, late night Saturdays with you, Tia, and Danny playing board games, our cruise vacations, trips to NY... and they think you are "so cool"...and God you were so, so cool to me. You were free spirited, happy, inspiring, you felt all emotions and had this talent of putting those complex feelings into words and art. Such a gift to all who knew you.

You will forever live in my heart and memories. You will always be my "cool Uncle Joey."

All my love,

JoAnn Almeida

Joey, you had a big heart - the heart of a lion, as your friend said. You only wished the best for everyone you met. I hope God answered all the questions that only a sensitive soul like you would ask, Joey. I’m so glad that you got to hold Skylar in your arms. We love you and are going to miss you. You’ll be forever in our hearts. Now you can soar with the angels. Rest In Peace, dear nephew.
